Using the BACtrack C8 for check-ins
The C8 is Daylight's reference device. Here's how to get a clean, readable check-in from it.
- Use standalone mode. The C8 can work on its own without a phone app. Use it that way for check-ins.
- Wait 20 minutes after eating, drinking, or smoking, as the C8's manual says.
- Keep the device in frame from the breath sample to the final screen.
- Show the final reading. Countdown, warm-up, and error screens aren't readings.
- Read every digit. 0.001 is not 0.000.
- Ignore the time-to-zero estimate. The C8's ZeroLine screen estimates when the reading will reach zero. It isn't a measurement.
Other breathalyzers with a screen work too. Daylight reads the C8 automatically; for other devices the coach reads the screen.
